How to Play Backpack Hero

This browser build of Backpack Hero is a roguelike dungeon demo where the position of every item in your backpack matters. Start a run, click connected rooms on the dungeon map, and open chests to collect weapons, armor, food, accessories, and other useful items. Drag every required item into the backpack before continuing, arranging the layout so everything fits and useful placement effects work together. While holding an item, press the right mouse button or an arrow key to rotate it. During combat, click a weapon or another usable item and watch your energy, health, armor, and enemy intent. Weapons consume energy when used, while shields, consumables, and special items can protect or strengthen you. Read each item's description because some items gain power from adjacent spaces, require empty spaces, or interact with specific item types. After a battle, compare the available rewards with your current build instead of taking everything. A smaller set of items with strong positioning effects can be more effective than a crowded backpack. Reorganize frequently, prepare healing or defense before dangerous rooms, and build combinations that can survive increasingly difficult enemies in the demo.
